My name is Ana Beatriz Dominguez. I’m part of Portage Community’s International Scholarship Program. I began my educational journey in 2021, and I am currently in my second semester of medicine.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah: 55:8-9
My first semester was a challenge. I never been on my own before. I found myself living in a new city, with a new school which was remarkably far from my family. To acclimate to this new normal, I found myself learning how to live with roommates, navigating the city, understanding where I can purchase groceries, locating the pharmacy, and plugging into a new church and implement new habits. It was a very fast and drastic transformation for me. I didn’t know how to process all the changes. Academically, I also struggled, but I know that the Lord helped me to overcome that semester. Now, God is giving me a new opportunity to learn how to use my time better, to be more organized, to study and take time to spend with the Lord.
I now know that the struggles I go through will build character, make me stronger, call me to trust in Jesus, to be faithful and love God. I know it won’t be easy, but the Lord tell us that, when we seek him and mentally focus with all our hearts, He will bless us, and we will be vessels in his hands.
